Public Health England Annual Conference 2018

1 Nov, 2018

Representatives from HSL’s world-class infection sciences department attended Public Health England’s annual conference 2018.

HSL attended the PHE annual conference in Warwick in September, to highlight the scale of facilities within the infection cciences department. 1,500 delegates attended the 2-day event which featured three core themes; “promoting world leading science and evidence”, “making the economic case for prevention” and “working towards a healthier, fairer society”.

Rebecca Gorton and Yaiza Lopez both attended to represent the infection sciences service and spoke to a number of delegates, many of whom were interacting with HSL for the very first time.

The event included several key note talks from Steve Brine MP, Secretary of State for Public Health and Primary Care, Tracey Crouch MP, Minister for Sport and Civil Society, Professor Dame Theresa Marteau, Director of the Health Research Unit at the University of Cambridge, and rugby World Cup winner Jonny Wilkinson, who spoke about his battles with diabetes and mental health.

HSL is a progressive partnership between The Doctors Laboratory, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (the Royal Free London) and University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH)
