A vacancy has arisen for a Full Time Senior Biomedical Scientist in our Blood Transfusion Laboratory, based in Central London.

We are looking for an experienced Biomedical Scientist to lead and supervise a team of staff in a section of the department with responsibility for providing a comprehensive, high quality 24/7 Blood Transfusion service to all HSL clients. The post-holder must use a combination of knowledge and skills to ensure that appropriate sample testing and the issue of blood components and products are performed safely, accurately and in a timely manner, for every patient and in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations (BSQR) 2005.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join a busy Blood Transfusion laboratory in Central London. HSL services a large teaching hospital (UCLH) which covers multiple clinical services Bone Marrow Transplants, Haemo-Oncology, Obstetrics, Neurology to name a few.

This will lead to more teaching and understanding of an extensive blood transfusion service and will lead to greater experience for a BMS who has a keen interest in the department.

HSL are ideally looking for someone with good previous laboratory experience who enjoys learning and looking for a challenging career.

Applicants will hold a qualification in pathology disciplines consistent with HCPC requirement and an MSc or equivalent experience in a relevant subject. Applicants must have current registration with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and a Specialist Diploma in relevant discipline. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate experience of working to a laboratory Quality Management System, and post-registration experience in a routine diagnostic/clinical laboratory and proficiency in relevant techniques. Applicants must have experience of supervising staff, and will be expected to participate in the 24/7 shift system.
