Last month HSL welcomed Virginia Re, Head of Sonic Connect (the global learning and development arm of HSL’s parent company, Sonic Healthcare) and Dr Stephen Fairy, Sonic’s global Chief Medical Officer. The pair delivered a tailored leadership development programme for a variety of HSL employees over a five day period.
Sonic Connect is responsible for culture, learning and development, training staff in Sonic companies across the world in skills that help to create a more harmonious and motivated workplace. Virginia and Stephen are both very knowledgeable in their fields and have extensive experience conducting and facilitating this type of training.
HSL’s five day programme consisted of three one-day workshops focusing on high performing teams, emotional intelligence and conflict management. The remaining two days consisted of shorter sessions covering situational leadership and S.C.A.R.F – a model of influencing and collaborating with others.
Sonic Connect’s leadership development programme comes at an apt time for HSL staff. With the move to the Halo now complete, many employees are now getting used to working in different teams within a new environment. Virginia and Stephen were both impressed with the high levels of resilience shown by employees and their commitment to change: “We last came to London three years ago,” says Virginia. “Since then, HSL has undergone a huge transformation. I’m really proud to see how well everyone has come together to navigate this change with confidence.”
The programme was not solely Halo-focused, however, with HSL employees attending from a variety of locations around the country. It was an excellent opportunity for people to get to know each other, collaborate, share learnings and enhance their own personal development.
We’re looking forward to welcoming Virginia and Stephen again in the not-too-distant future, so more people can take advantage of this varied and valuable training programme.
