This is a purpose built laboratory, equipped with state of the art instrumentation designed for the challenges faced in modern pathology.
The independent pre-analytics and tracking system will connect different floors and disciplines, and streamline the workflow to maximise efficiency.
The unique tracking system will link 5 floors within the Halo, thereby enhancing the throughput whilst reducing TATs.
All analytical platforms are the latest models and the result of innovative research and development. They offer loading of reagents on the fly and therefore reduce the wastage of excess QC and calibrations for standby kits.
The connectivity of the different disciplines enables the enhancement of the skills of the biomedical scientist and allows for the greater cross-involvement in the disciplines of: haematology and coagulation, biochemistry, immunology, virology and automated molecular testing. All in all the full connectivity will improve the efficiency in transferring samples between analysers and benefit the biomedical scientist by allowing them to do their job roles effectively.
The system is designed with the ability to be expanded for growth without interrupting existing sample pathways and workflows.
The department for biochemistry is accredited under Clinical Pathology Accreditation whilst transitioning to ISO 15189 under the programme of UKAS assessment schedules. We also hold the IBMS pre- and post-registration training approval for completion of the IBMS Registration Portfolio and Specialist Diplomas.
