This is a unique and exciting opportunity to provide medical leadership for the newly formed Cervical Screening London (CSL) service commissioned to provide primary HPV testing and cervical cytology services in London. Anticipated activity is expected to be in excess of 740,000 cervical samples per year.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, highly motivated and experienced GMC registered Consultant Pathologists. Candidates must hold Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath). The primary purpose of this role will be to provide laboratory service oversight and medical advice along with liaison with clinical colleagues in primary and secondary care, support MDTs and play an active role in the training and development of staff.
It is anticipated that the role will require 3 – 5 PAs per week (negotiable) and will be for two years with the potential to extend by mutual agreement. To ensure the maintenance of skills and demonstrate investment in this new service the successful candidate will also be expected to report cervical cytology samples for 2 – 3 PAs per week under a separate contractual arrangement with CSL.
Reporting to the Group Medical Director, the post holder will provide medical leadership for a team of Consultant Pathologists and CBMSs in a new central London facility within a short walking distance of Euston and Kings Cross St Pancras stations.
Secondment arrangements and responsibility allowance will be offered dependent upon qualifications and experience and will be negotiated with the successful candidate and their employer.
