We have a vacancy for a Medical Laboratory Assistant in our Microbiology department at 1 Mabledon place for a fixed term period of 2 months.

The department processes in excess of 500,000 samples per annum arising from a wide range of clinical situations and specialities.  You will be working in a superbly equipped new laboratory, with the most advanced diagnostic and IT systems currently available.    An interesting and varied workload, together with advanced plans for implementing major new automated solutions within the department, will allow you to gain unique and valuable experience of modern Microbiology practice.

This position involves collecting, sorting and testing samples, registering specimens in WinPath, answering telephone enquiries, use of Kiestra, BacT/Alert, Vitek 2, SediMax, IQ200, AutionMax, GeneXpert, Maldi-Tof and Mast Uri System analysers. General laboratory duties such as: maintaining equipment, stock and daily housekeeping.  Applicants should have previous laboratory experience.

The laboratory is situated in central London, has full CPA accreditation and offers a pleasant working environment and excellent staff facilities. The laboratory operates 24/7 so a shift system and flexible working is a requirement, including weekends.
