A vacancy has arisen for a Medical Typist in our Cellular Pathology Department based at the Royal Free Hospital, London.

The role will involve providing administrative and secretarial support to the medical staff and laboratory management therefore medical terminology and typing experience is required.

Main duties include, but not restricted to the following; Report generation for cellular pathology cases requiring accurate transfer of clinical and specimen details from request forms to the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), audio typing or copy typing of macroscopic description, microscopic description and diagnosis and supplementary reports where appropriate.  Dealing with telephone, fax and personal enquiries, internal and external, routine and complex, from clinical staff, administrative staff and from patients or their relatives, ensuring that department protocols for the release of information are closely adhered to at all times. General clerical duties which include, filing, photocopying, printing, postal duties and confidential waste management.
