This is an especially exciting time to join the department, as we are in the process of moving our services to a centralised state-of-the-art HSL Histopathology laboratory at 60 Whitfield Street.

The normal hours of work are 37.5 per week; the distribution of which is at the discretion of the Head of Department. The normal opening hours of the laboratory are 7.30 to 19.30, Monday to Friday. We are planning to provide a Saturday service from 09.00-13.00, which will need periodic work, but these may vary depending on the clinical needs of the department and our patient population.

You will need to be self-motivated, flexible, and reliable and have good interpersonal skills as well as having the ability to use your own initiative and take responsibility for one’s own work and those of others less qualified. You must be client focused and appreciate how we function in the wider patient pathway.

The Laboratory depends heavily on I.T. and the person should be willing to learn new computer skills where necessary, including the use of proprietary database systems, LIMS, commercial middleware applications, as well as the Microsoft suite of software.
