The new Essential Services Laboratory (ESL) at Watford General Hospital is officially open!

HSL Chair, Lord Patrick Carter, who cut the ribbon, was joined by CEO, David Byrne, Director of Group Laboratory Operations, Lisa Manze, and staff and senior colleagues at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The new facility processes all acute samples quickly and efficiently to support patient flow and deliver fast, high-quality results for clinicians and patients. It also provides staff with a modern, purpose-built environment, and cutting-edge technology.

The ESL is an exciting step forward in pathology services having been designed with state-of-the-art equipment and robotics to support Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
