Sophie joined Sonic Healthcare UK in March this year as Group Head of Primary and Community Services. Her arrival was particularly timely, given it was just days before the service was due to commence with our new partners at Herts and West Essex.
With 20 years’ experience managing transformation programmes within the NHS, Sophie describes herself as a people-oriented problem-solver.
Her expertise is particularly vital as primary and community care, along with mental health services, constitute over half of Sonic Healthcare UK’s operations. It means Sophie has to engage with numerous GP practices, community service, mental health facilities, hospices, care homes, and the organisations delivering the London cervical screening programme.
Sophie works closely with our own teams of consultants, suppliers, couriers and laboratory managers to ensure that any customers’ questions are addressed, and any issues resolved.
Liaising and building positive relationships with individuals and their organisations is key to providing and maintaining a high-quality service for these service users.
“Developing our strategic approach to delivering for out-of-hospital / non-acute healthcare providers will allow us to better meet their needs, improve service delivery, support business development, and ensure alignment with national health planning.”
Realising the Arc of the Possible
“It has been a time of huge transformation for many people with their services being redesigned.
At such a time of change, engagement and clear communication between all parties is key. That isn’t always straightforward and I am frequently looking for new ways to communicate and engage with the people we need to inform and support.
I try to realise the arc of the possible and am always looking ahead and trying to identify how we can do things differently, whether that’s more efficiently or more sustainably.”
A Warm Welcome
“Everybody at Sonic Healthcare UK has been incredibly welcoming to me. The open and supportive environment is like a breath of fresh air! Despite it being a particularly busy time, I’ve been included in group meetings right from the start and have felt incredibly supported.”
With a role as wide and involved as hers, Sophie says she doesn’t have much downtime but enjoys swimming regularly.
She has also recently signed up for tennis lessons. Pathway anticipates a strong service game!
